How can i get rid of an image from google?

Q. a friend of mine has an image on google and she wants it gone. Trouble is she don't own the domain its hosted on and the owner refuses to help remove it.

A. The only way you can get an image removed is to have the owner of the website it is on to remove it or block it.

The exception is if the image is copyrighted by your friend and the owner of the website is hosting it without your permission. If that is a case, send a DMCA letter to Google (see link). If it is just an embarrassing photo or something like that, then your only hope is to get the owner of the website to remove it.

If the owner is refusing to help, then you might have to get a little legal on them. Lawyers can be expensive, but anyone can write their own cease and desist letter. Cease and desist letters are legal letters which say, "do what we say or we'll sue." Of course, you don't actually have to sue, but the letter should make it sound like you intend to, which is usually scary enough for people to do what you ask.

Follow the form shown in the sample letter (link below) and make it sound very formal and legal-ish. Send the letter via registered mail or something where they have to sign to receive it. That will help them understand that you mean business.

What are legal issues I should know if I use an image from Google for album art I am making for publishing?

Q. Basically, I am creating an album art for an album which got a record deal and I used images from Google Image Search. When I enlarged the image, it would actually be enlarged to full size. I took the image and re-sized it a bit, changed a few of the colors. What, if any, legal ramifications do I have to look for in such a case?

A. If you do not have written permission from the creator of the original image to use it as album art they could sue you and win a large sum of money.

How did they take the images in Google Street View?
Q. It has always fascinated me how they take the images on Google Street View. So how do they?

I doubt it'd be from the sky because it'd only give a birds-eye view of the location and it wouldn't be cameras otherwise i'd be seeing camera all in my street.

A. They pay people who are willing to work for Googlemaps as freelance photographers and researchers. These people travel the country looking for relatively unknown and off the map small businesses, taking pictures, getting information about it, and sending it off to Google.

As far as the 360 imaging pictures that they provide from the street level of residential housing, most of those are taken by Google vehicles that travel the streets with a "bubble" camera (looks like a security camera) on the top of them that take 360 degrees of pictures and splice them together in a large panoramic. Occasionally if you scroll all the way down in the pictures you can see the edge of the top of the vehicles

What technique does the Chinese government use to make images in Google search not available?
Q. Red crosses often show up during my searching on Google images search. These red crosses indicate image not available. Sometimes a whole search results page is full of red crosses, means 20 images are not available. I've heard that this is maybe due to network blockage since i'm in China. But how does the China government achieve this? What's the technical details behind it? Lots of time my images search keywords are not in the black list, which means my keywords are not sensitive. What technique does the Chinese government use to make images in Google search not available?
It is not Google earth, it is Google images.

A. no technique really. they just send a list of areas they dont want google earth to display, and google doesnt show them.

simple as that mate.

How long will it take Flickr to host my images on Google?
Q. How long will it take Flickr to host my images on Google?

What happens if i upload the same pictures more than 5 times, will they show them all?

many thanks

A. Flickr will never host your images on Google. Flickr is run by Yahoo! who have their own webservers.

Your images will show up in search engines in somewhere between a few minutes and a few months depending on how quickly they get found (links to them will speed up the process) and assuming that there is sufficient text content around the images for search engines to be able to associate suitable keywords with them.

How do i get images from google on my myspace?

Q. Yo, i wanna get images from google on my myspace. How do i do that?

A. First you click the image you want so that it is the only thing showing up on the screen. When you look into your address bar, you should see ".jpg" at the end of the address. Copy that and paste it into this code:

<img src="ADDRESS HERE">

Paste that code wherever you want in your Profile Editor on Myspace.

How to upload image on google images?
Q. I intend to upload some images on google images. Despite the way, some people stated the pics are not uploaded. For example go to images, click upload, choose file and select the picture is uploaded and description is then given but when it is searched with the loaded description no such image is displayed.although the page is signed in.

A. You can't upload an image to Google Images. Google Images takes pictures from famous websites or blogs, mostly related to the 'keywords' you type in. Whatever you type in, Google does a quick search on those keywords and gives you the images associated with the most popular websites which relate to that keyword. Hence, you should make a blog or a website, use some keywords along with your photo and it might just show up on Google!
