do I need wireless internet on the i pod touch?

Q. I was thinking about buying the i pod touch and was wondering if i need wireless internet for some apps such as Google Earth, live radio, maps or find my car. Do most apps need wireless internet if those require it?

A. I have a ipod touch and yes most of them do like myspace twitter and urbanspoon but there are still apps that you dont need for but if you live in a heavily populated area there are places you can get it for free like starbucks. A app i really enjoy is WifiTrak. It finds wifi for you and its free! I love my ipod touch and I think you should get one too. Hope that helps you!

where can i find a live real map via satalite?
Q. where can i find a live real map via satalite? i heard about a website online that u could go to and see a live satalite image of earth. does anyone know what the site is?

A. I don't think there is a "LIVE" map. Most of the satellite photos on the internet are several years old. For example the photos of my home on zillow.com and on google earth were taken in 2003. I know that is true because they have a tree showing that was killed by lightening still standing, which I had cut down in September 2003.

How do I use google maps so my friends can all add their locations on the map?
Q. Some forums have google maps so everyone can add where they live on the map? How do I use this? or sign up for it?

A. Google Maps has a feature called "My Maps" which you can use. Steps:
1) Go to Google Maps.
2) Click the "My Maps" tab
3) Click "Create new map" link (right under the tabs)
4) Name the map something like "Awesome group of friends"
5) Near the top of the map next to the navigation arrows, you can see tools including the "Add a placemark" tool.
6) Put a placemark on your location.
7) Next you want to invite your friends to also add their locations. Click the "Collaborate" link. It is on the left just above the title of your map.
8) Enter the email addresses of your friends so they can also add their locations to the map.
9) Make sure you click the "Save" button and then then "Done" button.

Is it possible to file a law suit against google- maps for violating my privacy?
Q. Google maps now has a street view format to its maps, which makes it possible for anyone to SEE what your house looks like from the street, that's on top of them already showing you what is exposed to the open air on your driveway and yard, etc. Is there some sort of law that would prohibit google from showing what a private residence looks like?

A. I doubt it. And it's not just Google; MSN, Yahoo, and other search engines make it easy to get a satellite view of where you live, what the neighborhood looks like, and so on.

It's creepy, and it's our Big Brother coming to light. Way too many cameras if you ask me.

Why are there crater like structures in area 51?
Q. When you look at google virtual earth and live maps you can see crater like structures as if something heavy fell there. what happened there?

A. There are two reasons the first is the above ground nuclear testing, the second there is a set of actual meteor craters. They are from the late Devonian and are being studied by the University of Idaho Geology Department. Well the effects of the impact are being studied on the surrounding, they are not aloud to go into area 51 and look at the actual craters.

How come people live inside the National Forest?

Q. I was looking at Ocala National Forest in google maps trying to remember where I camped last time I was there. I notcied there are a bunch of streets in the middle of the forest so I zoomed in and there are like houses with swimming pools and stuff. WTF?! I thought national forests were like national parks! I thought it was a park for camping and canoeing and stuff! What gives?!

A. i'm not sure why, but yeah there are a lot of houses in the ocala forrest. i drive through there all the time. maybe it was families who had houses before it became a ntl forrest, but there's so many i dont think so. i think a ntl forrest must be different than say a national park. they are protecting the trees/woods from logging, but it doesnt mean it is pristine wilderness safe from human encroachment

Where can I find information on current Native American reservations in Mexico?
Q. I have searched on Google maps and searched Mexican government sites. Any ideas on where they are?

What is the best way to get to the Union Square from SFO?
Q. Google maps doesn't help that much. It says I have to walk a lot which I don't want to given that I'll arrive in the City late in the evening and don't want to walk for 16 minutes carrying a suitcase.
What is the best way to get to the Union Square from the airport?

Thanks!

A. Step 1: Take SFO BART to POWELL, 30 minutes
(You can take any BART that is heading North from SFO since they all stop by POWELL)

Step 2: Walk from POWELL BART like 3 blocks North, 5 minutes
(It is really not that far, there are lots of people during the day so you'll feel pretty safe)

I live around the Bay Area, and I occasionally have friends that I pick up from SFO. There is a map below, hope it works :)

Hope you enjoy your stay! :)

Where can I go to find a live map that will let me see the things that are happening right now?

Q. I tried google but I can't seem to find an actual live map with things that are happening right now. I want to know what site I could go to or if anyone can tell me if there really is a live map of things happening at the moment on google. If so, do I have to download anything? I live in Ohio and I just want to be able to see like the street views and stuff. Smart/rude a** comments will get deleted.

A. No, there are no live maps to see what is going right now. Would you want to have a camera in the sky right above you keeping track on everything you do?

Is there a site that combines Google, Live and Yahoo maps ?

Q. Sometimes google don't have maps of some particular area of the world. Then I try Live maps or Yahoo maps. It would be nice to have the 3 maps in a single website!

A. http://globalearthmaps.blogspot.com/ allows you to check the 3 maps simultaneously.

You can search a place in all maps (Google, Live or Yahoo Map) or you can search on each map independently.

How many Churches are there in Manhattan?
Q. I checked out Google maps and there were plenty!

I also checked out Synagogue in google map for Manhattan, and there were plenty. And I also checked out the number of mosques in Manhattan. There were barely a hand full.

A. Many, many Muslims live in the outer boroughs.

Try looking in Brooklyn or Queens. I'll bet you'll find a ton more.

Also, as with many minority religions, many groups have informal places to pray in people's homes. Orthodox Jews did this for years. And I think that many Muslims do this today.

Would you want to have a camera in the sky right above you keeping track on everything you do?

do I need wireless internet on the i pod touch?
