Is it possible to get all eBooks for free?

Q. Okay so I want to get a kindle or a nook, but I don't want to pay for every single book I read. How can you get free books and put them on the Nook/Kindle?

A. It is possible to choose to only read free ebooks. It is not possible to acquire for-purchase ebooks for free legally.

Most for-purchase books are protected by DRM (Digital Rights Management) systems that are particular to the ereader. There are lots of places, however, which offer free, legal ebooks that will work on most ereaders. Sometimes it's a single format that most support (EPUB, TXT, PDF, etc); sometimes multiple ebook formats are listed per book.

The 14 sites listed here (Patricia Clark Memorial Library, ManyBooks, Project Gutenberg, Smashwords, Feedbooks, Baen, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Creative Commons Books, Google ebookstore, Internet Archive, Open Library, Sony Reader Store, and Kobo eBooks) have legal, free ebook downloads:

http://www.howtodecide.com/ebook-download/#~tf.free=y&free.yes=y

Also, if you master a good conversion tool such as Calibre,

http://calibre-ebook.com/

you'll gain access to more formats than just your ereader's native ebook file formats. Calibre will not, however, overcome DRM of protected for-purchase books.

I suggest that you'll want to consider other factors besides the availability of free ebooks when making your decision on which ereader to buy. Free ebooks does not differentiate ebooks as other factors such as E Ink vs LCD, keyboard vs touch screen, WiFi vs 3G, etc.

How do you download free Ebook torrents for a nook color?

Q. I have a Nook Color and have been told that there is a way you can download Ebooks for free as a torrent file like you can download movies. I haven't figured out how to do this yet and have searched and searched. Any ideas?

A. I do not recommend acquiring ebooks from torrents, which have a deserved reputation as sources of illegal copies of for-purchase media.

Most for-purchase ebooks are protected by DRM (Digital Rights Management) systems that are particular to the ereader. Where can i get free ebooks for a kindle?
Q. title says it all, where can i get free ebooks for a kindle, and do i have to download them directly to it?
and what format are they?

A. There are lots of places which offer free, legal ebooks that will work on most ereaders. Sometimes it's a single format that most support (EPUB, TXT, PDF, etc); sometimes multiple ebook formats are listed per book.

The 13 sites listed here (Patricia Clark Memorial Library, ManyBooks, Project Gutenberg, Smashwords, Feedbooks, Baen, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Google ebookstore, Internet Archive, Open Library, Sony Reader Store, and Kobo eBooks) have legal, free ebook downloads:

http://www.howtodecide.com/ebook-download/#~tf.free=y&free.yes=y&purchase.yes=n

Also, if you master a good conversion tool such as Calibre,

http://calibre-ebook.com/

you'll gain access to more formats (such as EPUB) than just Kindle's native ebook file formats (AZW, MOBI, PDF). Calibre will not, however, overcome DRM of protected for-purchase books.

No, you do not have to download directly to your Kindle. You can download to your computer and the transfer via the USB cable included with the Kindle. Instructions for transferring files via USB can be found on Amazon's site:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=200505520&#usb

Where can i find the ebook for free?
Q. I need the book "The Enough Moment" by: John Prendergast for my final. Does anyone know where i can find the ebook for free or atleast under 10bucks. Ebook only. Thanks!

A. A Search of the Books in Print database doesn't result in finding any e-book copies.

A Search of WorldCat also shows only print copies:
http://www.worldcat.org/search?qt=worldcat_org_bks&q=enough+moment+prendergast&fq=dt%3Abks

You can read parts of it through GoogleBooks:

I suggest that you'll want to consider other factors besides the availability of free ebooks when making your decision on which ereader to buy. Free ebooks does not differentiate ebooks as other factors such as E Ink vs LCD, keyboard vs touch screen, WiFi vs 3G, etc.
