Seniors: Do You Think TV is Going the Way of the Buggy Whip?

Q. Listening to 'On the Media'.
They are saying now that more people are getting online with Hulu & Yahoo/Google (web television), TV may become obsolete in less than 20 years.
What do you think?

A. Great question. If anyone had told me ten years ago the daily newspaper would become obsolete I would give them a thumbs down and suggest a good detox program.

Television is still supported by advertising and with the glut of new products this media I think will be around for a long time. But then this is just my opinion.

What could you invent to improve television programmjng and viewership?
Q. The most recemt invention in television is digital technology, explain what you could invent. That is the question that i dont get. I really have no clue, can someone please help me out wit some ideas?

A. In last year's CES show, the big thing was 3D TV. This year they showed a lot of actual stuff that you can actually buy from BestBuy, i.e. 3D TV home theater. This year's CES 2011, the big thing in TV is Internet connected TV, i.e. Google TV box that allow your to browse the net and play Youtube, Netflix, Hulu, run Android apps, etc. I guess you will have to wait till next CES to see what's next.

How do you get your television back to normal mode?
Q. My television is in demo mode. Its a magnavox if it helps. I dont have a manual . .

A. Google the model number and you'll probably find a source for the manual on-line. They are frequently available in PDF format. Look in the manual for the procedure to reset the TV to its factory defaults.
