Q. A porn url linked to aa site I visit often keeps opening a series of windows in spite of Google and UYahoo pop-iup blockers. Neither allows me to manually add a url to the blocked list. Any answers that won't cost me money?
A. Use your hosts file.
Locate the file as:
Windows XP = C:\ WINDOWS\ SYSTEM32\ DRIVERS\ ETC
Windows 2K = C:\ WINNT\ SYSTEM32\ DRIVERS\ ETC
Open it with note pad (it doesnt have a default program to open with so select it from the list)
Add the domain name that keeps opening then put some spaces and then put 127.0.0.1 so they are both on the same line.
You have to have <space>'s between, NOT tabs.
www.blurb.com 127.0.0.1
blurb.com 127.0.0.1
Save the file and whenever that site is requested in future it will fail to load as it will be using the address from your hosts file and not the DNS servers on the net.

A. juz add it
Necessary to add url if you change hosts?
Q. Is it necessary to add URL to search engines if we change hosts?
Will Google or other search engines still find you if you maintain your domain but change hosts if adding the URL again is not done?
Thanks!

A. If you change hosts but keep your domain, your URL won't change. You won't have to add it anywhere. It will just be served from the new host. Once the DNS entries for the new host propagate (usually within 24 hours) everyone including search engines will find you at the new host.
If you do have to change your URL and still have control over the old URL, setup a 301 redirect for the search engines to know you've permanently moved. Setting up the redirect depends on how you've coded your website and what platform you are on.
