Google's App Inventor is no longer available for Mobile App development… any alternatives?

Q. I noticed that the App Inventor has been shut down (not their website, but if you try their actual software you get a notice).... I'm trying to create a very simple interactive android app with minimal programming skills involved.

Are there some similar alternatives to the Google App Inventor and App Cobra out there for free?

A. mybringback on Youtube gives you multiple tutorials on creation applications. I used these and I was doing very well as a beginner. The videos are time consuming but they really work. I would suggest using them. mybringback channel link: http://www.youtube.com/user/mybringback?feature=g-all-u

Which is the best program/language to make apps for android?
Q. Java, Google App Inventor, Eclipse, etc.

I don't necessarily want the easiest to use. I want the one that will make the best functioning apps. Or does it even matter?

A. What is best for me is probably not the best for you.

If you know C++ then it might be the best. If you know C# and Silverlight and can afford Mono for Android then it is best. If you know both C++ and C# then probably C# and Silverlight is best because it would be more portable to other environments. Otherwise use Java and the Android SDK.

Where can I find the best software to make android apps?
Q. I have some ideas for android and possibly iphone apps, but I have a pc and only know some javascript. Does anyone know of some software that I can get that would make creating apps easier? I have already signed up for Google's App Inventor and I am waiting for an invite. I have also installed appcelorator, but it isn't that easy to use.

A. I also want to develop for android and signed up for the app inventor. Apple said to program on the Iphone I need the Mac OS 10 and the development suite, which costs $100.
