How do I go about contacting yellowpages, googlemaps, etc about correcting a business address?

Q. My family's business address is listed incorrectly on googlemaps, yellowpages, etc. (all the directories)

How do I go about solving this problem? Are there any FAQs about this sort of situation?

I know in the end, I will have to call all of the companies unless there is an easier way (which, i doubt).

Just on here to clarify or to miraculously find an easier way.

Thank you so much in advance .

A. With Google Maps, you can log into Google and then go to Local Business Centre.
Once in Google Local Business Centre you can delete the listings you don't want or are incorrect.

If you have not already done so, you may need to "Claim the Listing" which will require verification like any new listing.

If you need a bit more help, there are several pages about Google Maps / Local Business Centre listings here:

With Yellow Pages, I found this:

And this:
Already listed on YELLOWPAGES.COM? Make sure your business information is always current. You can change an existing listing by filling out our Update Your Listing Form.

Hope some of this helps!

What's a good resource to advertise your business at low cost or free?
Q. I am an Affiliate Marketer, looking for free or low cost places to advertise my online business opportunities and blogs. Please only places where you have had success in obtaining, new members and prospects. I'm also expanding my network and looking to meet other likeminded individuals to connect with.

A. How to advertise your business effectively, and for free?

Here are 3 effective ways.

FREE LOCAL/REGIONAL ADVERTISING SITES

Here are free local and regional classified sites (in alphabetical order)âthis is not an exhaustive list but contains the sites that I use:

www.backpage.com
www.beatyourprice.com
www.bonanza.com
www.craigslist.com
www.ebayclassifieds.com (formerly www.kijiji.com)
www.epage.com
www.half.ebay.com (formerly www.half.com)
www.hoobly.com
www.ioffer.com
www.livesimon.com
www.olx.com
www.oodle.com
www.usfreeads.com
www.webcosmo.com

Craig's List (4th position) is probably the most renowned classifieds site, but others are valid too.

CLAIM YOUR BUSINESS PROFILE IN SEARCH ENGINES' BUSINESS LISTINGS

Also worth a mention, registering your business in local listings provided by search engines, as follows:

Google Places (formerly Google Local Business Center) > http://www.google.com/places/
Yahoo Local (US only) > http://local.yahoo.com/
Bing Business Portal (formerly Bing Local Listing Center) > http://www.bing.com/businessportal/

Make sure to add (in a user-readable way) keywords people are likely to look for to find your business close to their home. Leave no stone unturned. Every sentence should be relevant to that regard is you want search engines to properly associate your business profile to search queries.

I'm reluctant to give out my address for my home based business.?
Q. I have a new home based service business and I would like to get in the business listings like Yellow Pages, Google, Yahoo business, etc. How do I get listed and not give a street address? Any advice?

A. My suggestion, "rent" an address from UPS. It is similar to a PO box at the post office, but the problem with PO box numbers, is that most shipping companies cannot ship to a PO box, but UPS will accept deliveries from all carriers. If you "rent a street address" from UPS, that shouldn't be a problem.
