What are different careers in television?

Q. I would like to work for a television channel and I was wondering what are some careers that work sort of behind the scenes (besides a producer and not an actor). I am a psychology major.

I want to LEARN about different careers in this area, I'm not looking for available job in the field. Just a list of the various careers under television will help and some information. Thank you!

A. You can work in production to create and edit video for advertisements on a TV station in your area. You also can work in audio to control the sound of the anchors in the news program or you can be a cameraman or camerawoman (either outside covering the stories that matter to your area or filming the anchormen or anchorwomen live). Look around for any more jobs in your area at TV stations in your area. You could even be on TV as an expert in psychology (like finding the correlation coefficient and different phobias or even the different disorders of humans - for example, a bipolar disorder child or autistic children studies). You can even be like the Dr. Phil in your local area. Google television careers and your zip code and see what else you can find. Check the news channels for job openings and apply for the job. Make sure you send in your resume (especially if you apply online). Hope this helps you find a job. I may even want to do a similar part-time job in my area (Niceville, FL).

Seniors: Do You Think TV is Going the Way of the Buggy Whip?
Q. Listening to 'On the Media'.
They are saying now that more people are getting online with Hulu & Yahoo/Google (web television), TV may become obsolete in less than 20 years.
What do you think?

A. Great question. If anyone had told me ten years ago the daily newspaper would become obsolete I would give them a thumbs down and suggest a good detox program.

Television is still supported by advertising and with the glut of new products this media I think will be around for a long time. But then this is just my opinion.

What could you invent to improve television programmjng and viewership?
Q. The most recemt invention in television is digital technology, explain what you could invent. That is the question that i dont get. I really have no clue, can someone please help me out wit some ideas?

A. In last year's CES show, the big thing was 3D TV. This year they showed a lot of actual stuff that you can actually buy from BestBuy, i.e. 3D TV home theater. This year's CES 2011, the big thing in TV is Internet connected TV, i.e. Google TV box that allow your to browse the net and play Youtube, Netflix, Hulu, run Android apps, etc. I guess you will have to wait till next CES to see what's next.
